August 2011, Johnstown PA— Dumon Coleman, Johnstown PA 26, pulls no punches when he describes his life.
At age 15, Coleman knew he was headed down a dead-end street.
“It was a crazy, hectic, drug lifestyle,” he said.
His life began a dramatic transformation more than 13 months ago when he landed on the doorstep of Peniel.
He credits the Bible-based drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility located on Cooper Avenue with changing his life.
On Saturday, Coleman and 29 clients of Peniel graduated from the program. Some shared their stories of desperate lives bound by substance abuse.
For the graduates, anger, fear, loneliness and denial was replaced by hope and courage.
“They taught me a way to live without drugs and alcohol,” Coleman said. “They taught me how to face life clean and sober and take responsibility for my choices.”
I now give back to my community! I am able to help those who are struggling!
